ABOUT

My name's Greyson, and I'm an aspiring developer and writer. All things considered, I'm a simple person: I like games, I like learning, and I try to live looking forward.

In college, I studied computer science and philosophy, disciplines which have honed my interest in decision-making processes, algorithms, and computability. They also helped rekindle my love for rhetoric and writing.

As things stand, my main goals are to pick up momentum, get out of my hometown, and find work that's meaningful to me. In the meantime, I'm working on my fundamentals with the end goal of becoming a strong software engineer, a capable communicator, and a decent person in general. I crave opportunities to practice and to create—if you're interested, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

BELIEFS & PRIORITIES

adaptation

I’m not very attached to the past. That mentality has its pros and cons, but in effect, it's made me comfortable with abandoning bad work, rebounding from failure, and tolerating change.

fundamentals

When it comes to a project, discipline, or skill, everything springs from fundamentals: basic techniques or mental models that undergird the task at hand. As such, I try to refine and strengthen my fundamentals whenever I can, even if it means revisiting the most trivial ideas.

rent-seeking

I think one of the worst things in the world is taking without giving back. It feels abjectly horrible and is one of the biggest negative drivers for what I try to do with my life.

shortcuts

A shortcut is useful insofar as it’s good, by which I mean it cuts through bad stuff without losing good stuff. I love using shortcuts, which is why it’s necessary that I only take on good ones.
